Here's the Ketchup graphic though, in three different themes. Red tomatoes, green tomatoes, and just rotten tomatoes.

A lot of people like this kind of simple, lively graphic a lot, so I think I might do this kind of thing more often.

A bit of inane humour here and there but hey, it made me laugh anyway. 

The front page is no longer the cluttered trash it was before. Instead of trying to overwhelm you with lots of tiny pictures and garbled nonsense, you're now presented with some nice vertical strips of what's going on today on DA, and a handy dandy little control panel. Oh, it just makes it feel so homely.

The top bar of buttons and message info has been transformed, removing the submit, journal and setting buttons from the top and putting them closer to home. The message info has unfortunately slimmed down to become a total count of messages, rather than a breakdown of what you've got in there – hopefully this can be reverted. The little 'Categories' button turns into a little dynamic menu like so:

Which is very swish and cool. I'm glad they've put the highly esteemed crafts of wallpaper and skins (actually, to be fair these guys do a good job) down at the bottom, segregated from what is considered wholesome to society.

Here's my own frontpage in the new version. Everything is pretty much the same asides from the (badly) rearranged stats at the top, which have been configured in such a way that they only convey tangible information when you browse about in a window bigger than the average man's head. Like the tabs though.

Everything underneath it is essentially the same, just different colours. The colours are better, way better than snot green and post-mortem grey, but I still think that the layout of the pages themselves could do with some refining.

Here's a deviation. Less cluttered, comes with a handy pop down menu thingy, and seems less boxed in altogether. Description looks kind of nice too. You can see what category you're in easily, great. Only thing I don't like is the positioning of the user icon and title.

Comments have gone down the slimline route as well, losing information like date, time and subject. Chances are that if you're on the page of something and reading comments, you already know what the subject is so I can understand that. I also can't remember the last time I wanted to check the timing of comments, so all in all this seems like a pretty good cut.

Gallery pages are also looking good, slim, and do what they're supposed to do. No more silly options that I never use, and no buttons I never use. Another good cut.

While on Muscatt's page I noticed an interesting addition that's not on the current DA:

So I got a few mixtapes, a few drinks and got ready to click this mysterious button. I was a bit disappointed to find myself arriving at a slightly cryptic page that looked a lot like this:

A few blank buttons for what I guess you can customise to your own twisted designs. The party system has me a little excited, to be honest. From what I've heard it's basically a sub-community within DA which will enable… all sorts of things. Right?

It seems to me to be like guilds or clans for DA. It's exotic and pleases me. Oh yes.

All in all, the new DA's most noticeable change is the colour scheme – and this is by no means a bad thing at all. It's a lot more neutral, and doesn't feel so seedy. It's like that old bar where that guy with one leg always hung out has be redone into a place called the Sandwich Lounge, and the guy with one leg has been fitted with a high tech robotic leg with a built in graphic equaliser.

While the huge bulk of new features are as of yet unusable, this shows a good direction for the site, I think.

Playing with fun brushes and some colours I like. Hunting is a particular trend of today as I've just about finished studying Ernest Hemingway, which is just loaded with it.

Sorry I haven’t been updating lately, I’ve kind of been going through some extremely tired phase of the week where I feel exhausted by 9pm and drop off to bed. Wake up feeling extremely refreshed though, so that’s nice – maybe it’s the powerful wind blowing in my face as I cycle back and forth from school that’s taking it out of me.

Also wanted it to be less widebrimmed and more… vague. Yeah. Pretty bored tonight.

I was going to make an older version of the fat little muppet mouthed kid from yesterday’s sketches, but it quickly turned into a tribute for all those old walkman ads with the short shorts people skating around, holding their totally hip new portable music systems!

It’s a big combination of flats made in illustrator, sent to photoshop to be shaded a bit, sent back to illustrator for inking, and back and forth and so on. Liked it, though.

Maybe some more skaters?
